Cross appears in the sky during prayer service to Solovki martyrs on Lubyanka Square

Picture
Moscow, August 23, Interfax - Cross made of clouds appeared for several minutes in the sky above the Lubyanka Square in Moscow during a prayer service to the Solovki new martyrs last Sunday.

"It was seen by all the people, who attended the Solovki Candle action on the eve of the Solovki new martyrs and confessors commemoration day and numerous police officers who guarded Lubyanka Square," action organizer Pavel Illarionov told Interfax-Religion on Monday.

He reminded that the goal of the prayerful meeting was to obtain permission of Moscow and Russian authorities on setting up a commemorative cross near the Solovki Stone and building an Orthodox chapel to commemorate victims killed in repressions of the 20th century.

"Some people doubted that such a thing may happen, but I said: "Soon you'll see it with your own eyes." But even I couldn't expect that the sign in the sky would appear just in several minutes after a prayer to new martyrs began," Illarionov said.

According to him, the cross was seen during 20 minutes of the prayer service, then the clouds concealed it. Professor Pavel Florensky, a grandson of the renowned martyr, speaking after the prayer service said that no matter what rational explanation this sign may have "for a believing heart this miracle doesn't need any comments," and it made him believe that the Orthodox cross and church-chapel will be opened on Lubyanka Square very soon.

The Solovki Candle action was dedicated to the 90th anniversary of setting up the first Soviet concentration camp on Solovki Islands. Participants chanted "Memory Eternal" to all "suffered in severe trials on Solovki islands and other places."

September 5 – in Russia, the Apodosis of the Dormition of the Mother of God, marked the 32nd anniversary of the repose of Metropolitan Nikodim of the Mocow Patriarchate, shown here with his close spiritual intimate, Pope John Paul I, whom Nikodim visited to wish him well upon his election as pope - and during his visit fell asleep in the Lord in the newly elevated Pope’s arms. Pope John Paul I served 33 days before falling asleep in the Lord. The cause of neither demise has been credibly explained, to this day.

The ardent affection of these two highly placed prelates for one another, and for one another’s ecclesial institutions – constituting the seamless garment of Christ, yet riven by the selfish deceits of men – on account of which they were united in martyrdom, could not be extinguished by death, for:

Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and upon those in the tombs bestowing life!

That life is at this time bestowed upon us through the emergence of a Church of Patriarchal dignity in America, in response to the urgent needs of President Barack – his given name means “blessing” - Obama, following the precedent established by the Emperor Constantine when he transferred the capital of the Roman Empire to Byzantium, renaming it Constantinople, and convening the First Ecumenical Council in Nicaea in 325 A.D., under the jurisdiction of the emergent Church of Constantinople, establishing the defining Nicaean Creed as also the constitutional framework of Christianity as we know it today.

Now that the dust has settled after the meeting of the OCA Synod of Bishops and the gang-of-however-many, known as the Metropolitan Council – don’t they have job descriptions for Council eligibility? I mean, we have this criminal, Fr. Ted Bobosh, who actually heads the (egregiously misnamed) “Metropolitan Council ‘Ethics’ Committee”, although by his own admission Fr. Bobosh does not even know whether the latest incarnation of the anti-Christ, his parishioner, Mark Stokoe, is ethically sound or reprehensible, despite said parishioner’s responsibility for the fraudulently anti-Christian caricature of the OCA website (http://www.oca.org/), videlicet Mark’s website, OCANews, which “repeatedly reports half-truths and confidential information [such that]…his reporting [has been found by everyone who has laid eyes upon it] to be biased, distasteful, and to have caused unnecessary controversy and division in the OCA [so that] Mark Stokoe has proven that the upkeep of his website and his membership on the Metropolitan Council are in conflict of interest.” http://www.ocatruth.com/?p=224  More.....

Thus says the Lord: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool, all these things my hand has made. But this is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word.”

The emergence of a Church of Patriarchal dignity in America

Lent begins with The Triumph of Orthodoxy – where is this Orthodoxy which is triumphing to be found??? (Hint: Not noticeably in the body named The Orthodox Church in America!!!)

“In paradise of old the tree stripped me bare; for by giving me its fruit to eat, the enemy brought in death. But now the Tree of the Cross that clothes men with the garment of life has been set up on earth, and the whole world is filled with boundless joy.” Our joyful desire to be clothed with the garment of life won’t be aroused unless we recognize that we are naked and dead in our sins!!! And who recognizes themselves as such??? (Hint: Not the disgraced IMF head Strauss-Kahn)

It is often the case that I learn from my memos AFTER I have written them! Such is the case here. I find I have fallen victim to the “Palamite theology” mentality that I have just been criticizing! Preoccupied by my attempts to get a good grip on the writngs of the saint, I was blind to the reason why the Church “advertises” the heroic sanctity of some of her children, by canonizing them, and even dedicating to them a week of Lenten instruction and meditation – namely, to present them as a most personal example for us to follow! We should climb the ladder with the saint – not subject him to the “textual criticism” which has usurped wisdom in contemporary academia – as I myself know only too well!!!

OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE - THE MATERNITY OF MARY

by Herbert Thomas Schwartz

"My very dear son, you must know that I am the eternal Virgin Mary, Mother of the True God, Author of Life, Creator of all, and Lord of the heavens and of the earth, Who is present everywhere, and it is my desire that a church be built here in this place for me, where, as your most merciful Mother and that of all your people, I may show my loving clemency, and the compassion that I bear to the Indians, and to those who love me and seek me and to all those who seek my protection, and call upon me in their travail and afflictions, and where I may hear their sorrows and prayers and give them consolation and help."(1)

This is what Our Lady of Guadalupe told Juan Diego, a converted Indian, in her first apparition to him long ago, on December 9th, 1531; it was only a few years after Christopher Columbus (whose name means "the Christ-bearing dove") had discovered the new continent. By this time you must all know about the miraculous portrait of herself which Our Lady caused to be made on Juan Diego's tilma, and by which she proved the truth of her words. What I would like to do here is to consider with you something of what her words mean - for ourselves.
